CURRENT VACANCIES

  • Head of Junior School

The Head of Junior School leads a teaching and administrative team in a pivotal role, reporting to the Deputy Principal for the educational leadership, pastoral care, organisational culture and operational running of the Junior School.

In this function the Head of Junior School is a member of the College Executive Team and an important leader in the College community. The Head of Junior School will uphold the Anglican Christian foundation of the College and be an active member in their local church.

The Head of Junior School leads and manages the activities of students and teachers in line with the College Vision, Mission and Values statement in the following areas – teaching and learning, academic performance, classroom practice, pastoral care, administration, budget and staff management.

The Head of Junior School is responsible for the relationship and interaction of the students, staff and parents of the Junior School.

Implicit in the role of the Head of Junior School is involvement in school-wide initiatives, responsibilities, events and programs.

  • Chaplain

Nowra Anglican College is a Christian school in the Anglican tradition. The Christian ethos is present in its caring philosophy and its concern to produce educated leadership. The presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is central to the vision and mission of the School.

The Chaplain will be an excellent Christian educator who is energetic, innovative and committed to the ethos of independent Christian education and an active member of their local church.

The Chaplain will possess demonstrated capacity to operate effectively in educational environments. He/she will possess excellent interpersonal skills with a particular emphasis on relating with young people. The Chaplain will be committed to maintaining the Christian values and promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Nowra Anglican College and its surrounding community.

The Chaplain will hold teaching qualifications. Appropriate theological qualifications and experience working with young people is also required.

  • Head of English

The Head of English will have overall responsibility for teaching and learning, achievement and attainment within the English department. He/she will inspire departmental colleagues and all students who study in the area of English with a love for their subject, leading them to explore it and value it for their whole life.

The Head of English is responsible for the organisation of the delivery of English in the College and will contribute to the development and maintenance of whole school strategy, policies and ethos.

The College has a focus on integrating technology to enhance student learning and the Head of English will be an innovative leader in the way he/she inspires students and staff to achieve.

The Head of English is expected to be a key leader within the school.

  • The Coordinator of Learning Support

The Coordinator of Learning Support is an essential member of the College who is directly responsible to the Director of Learning and Teaching and is part of the
P to 12 Learning Support Team. He/she is ultimately responsible to the Executive Principal. The Coordinator of Learning support will oversee the Learning Support Team and provide direction and guidance to teaching staff in the care and management of students with learning and behavior needs and disabilities. This will involve facilitating and enhancing learning experiences and providing practical support for students, staff and parents.

  • The Visual Arts/Technology Teacher

The Visual Arts/Technology Teacher will demonstrate expert understanding of pedagogy by knowing the importance of having a thorough theoretical and practical knowledge of how students’ backgrounds impact on learning.

Degree plus recognised teaching qualifications. For example Bachelor of Education or equivalent, or an undergraduate degree plus post-graduate qualifications in teaching.

Eligible to be accredited with the NSW Board of Studies Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES) Note: Accreditation with BOSTES is optional for any person who has been continuously employed as a teacher in NSW prior to October 2004.

HSC Visual Art experience and an ability to teach Stage 4 Technology.
