ConnectHSC

DSCF7780
Our program attracts Year 11 and Year 12 students who are looking to achieve a HSC without having to undertake exams. While this can be achieved at other educational institutions, South Coast Trade Skills Centre offers an alternative experience for like-minded students to maximise their opportunity for success.

All students will do a common HSC program of study that is designed to enrich their understanding and skills in literacy, numeracy, work readiness and computer based technology. These subjects will be presented in a less structured, more contemporary style. Students will undertake projects that will have relevance to their everyday lives and vocational study. This mode of delivery helps them to become creative, innovative and resourceful. They will also be able to solve problems in ways that draw upon a range of learning areas and disciplines.

Program of Study

The program of study students will qualify for an HSC, with no HSC examinations and one or two recognised Australian Quality Framework qualifications.

All programs and learning projects are School developed and assessed.

Dual Accreditation

Our Trade Skills Centre offers a dual accreditation program where students have the opportunity to gain one or two recognised Australian Quality Framework qualifications. This means that students will conclude year 12 with one or two certificate II qualifications, other RTO’s may only offer a statement of attainment.

We know that many sixteen year olds need a little bit more time to make up their mind about their future career path. With us they can explore two options and conclude their HSC having completed the equivalent of the first year of an apprenticeship. This sets them up strongly for a range of future opportunities, knowing that they have made an informed choice.

Critically, as well as allowing them the opportunity to research future career options, this provides our young people with the best possible chance of gaining ongoing employment in the Shoalhaven Local Government Area.
