Our Coordinator of Information Service shared this great learning resource with our teachers early this term. “What do you with an idea?” written by Kobi
Yamada and illustrated by Mae Besom focuses on growth mindset characteristics. We think it is a great resource that parents might like to use as well.
Ideas are wonderful, intriguing and delightful, much like this book that allows children to engage with the very abstract concept of ideas. The best inventions
come from ideas, as pointed out at the start of this book. Great ideas follow us around, tapping away at us, asking for attention, allowing us to imagine,
dream big and problem solve.
Sometimes sharing ideas is scary and confronting. How will others judge our ideas, will they laugh, will they steal them, will they help us?
We love that this book supports a growth mentality, and when read with a child can challenge them to nurture their ideas and be brave in sharing their
ideas, problem solving and engage in dynamic learning. Parents can access more ways to use this book to engage their child in connecting with their
ideas by following some of Carol Chandler and Meghan Murphy’s ideas.
