Scholarships

The Nowra Anglican College Scholarship program aims to encourage and recognise students in their pursuit of excellence. The Scholarship Program at Nowra Anglican College provides students with financial support to further their education as well as reward achievement and effort.

Students who receive scholarships will display exemplary character and uphold the College’s vision, mission and values. They will also exhibit qualities such as integrity, leadership, initiative, compassion for others and personal responsibility.

Each year a number of scholarships are granted for partial remission of tuition fees (typically 25% or 50%) for students entering Years 5, 7, 9 or 11 and are determined in the year preceding entry to these grades.

Scholarships are usually awarded for the remainder of the recipient’s schooling, conditional on the student’s continued satisfactory progress (subject to annual review), contribution to the full life of the College community and ongoing support for the ethos of the College.

Current Scholarships

Principles to be applied

  1. Up to two full Scholarships in Years 5,7,9 and 11 are offered each year.
  2. ACER be engaged as the external body used to assess Academic Scholarship applicants. Testing is conducted in February of each year to offer scholarships in June.
  3. The Principal, at his/her discretion, may grant either 25%, 50%, or 75% scholarships. The decision for Academic scholarships is to be based on the results of the examinations of the external testing agency, ACER.
  4. Scholarships are normally granted for the remainder of the student’s education at the College subject to annual review by the Principal. In this review the Principal will examine the Scholarship holder’s academic record over the past year as well as his/her contribution to the full life of the College community. Both need to be deemed satisfactory for the Scholarship to be extended into the next academic year.
  5. In the case of Performing Arts Scholarships, the student must choose at least Music/Drama/Dance, as an elective subject in Years 9-12 (if these subjects are offered as an elective) and participate in two ensembles such as the College Orchestra, Choir or Dance Troupe. The student will also be expected to make a contribution to special occasions from time to time.
  6. The Scholarship is offered for tuition fees only. All other fees, for example, service fees, uniform costs, representative trips and outdoor education are not covered by the Scholarship.
  7. All bursaries and scholarships or other financial assistance will be repayable if the recipient is withdrawn or enrolled in another school before the completion of the student’s Higher School Certificate, unless the family is obliged to relocate to another part of the state (or Commonwealth) as a result of changed family or employment circumstances.
