Pastoral Care

The College seeks to promote an authentic expression of Christianity in faith and action which is evident in all aspects of College life. From the academic to creative, from sport to service learning, these are all opportunities to taste and see the Christian life in all its fullness and relevance to life in the 21st century.

Regular Christian Studies classes from Kindergarten to Year 12 are an opportunity to systematically explore the Bible and its relevance for life today. Students explore the key themes of the Bible as well as looking at Old Testament and New Testament studies. They also become acquainted with Jesus, and his life, death and resurrection, and spend time discovering church history, world religions and biblical approaches to social and ethical issues. As in all our College subjects, contemporary learning and teaching strategies are utilised, encouraging students to explore and create as they learn.

Chapel services, held weekly in Junior School and fortnightly in Senior School are informal, engaging and energetic gatherings including games, singing, Bible talks and prayer. Students are encouraged to participate and lead within Chapel. There are also services for special occasions such as ANZAC Day, Easter and Christmas. Parents are most welcome to attend Chapel.

The Chaplaincy department also runs weekly student fellowship groups in partnership with Crusader Union. God Squad and Club56 are for primary and Crossroads is for students in Years 7-12, run by a student leadership team. A highlight for senior students is the annual Crossroads Camp. Leadership development opportunities are available for junior and senior students through these groups.

A relationship with local churches is an important aspect to the Chaplaincy ministry. The College is a member of the Southern Shoalhaven Anglican Mission Area and regularly hosts meetings and events for this network.

Families are warmly invited to discover more about the Chaplaincy and Christian education initiatives at Nowra Anglican College. Chaplain Andrew Dane would be happy to meet and have a chat if you have any questions.
