First Nations Education

Our Commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education.

At Nowra Anglican College, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and culturally rich learning environment. Our commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education is woven into the fabric of our community. We are proud to be part of the AIS Waratah Project and to have two dedicated Aboriginal Education Mentors who guide and support our students and staff. With the recent publication of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we are taking concrete steps to strengthen relationships, respect, and opportunities for all, ensuring our programs and initiatives meaningfully contribute to the reconciliation journey.

Acknowledging and Embracing Reconciliation

We are committed to strengthening relationships, respect, and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are proud to announce the publication of our college's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

A RAP is a formal commitment to reconciliation. It is a strategic document that outlines the actions we will take to build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff, families, and community members. Our RAP documents how we will create a more inclusive and respectful environment for everyone in our college community.

We are committed to working together to create a college community where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are celebrated, and their histories and contributions are acknowledged. We invite you to read our Reconciliation Action Plan, which is available using the link below Download the RAP

Reconciliation Through Learning and Growth

At our college, reconciliation is a journey we live out through our Building Learning Power dispositions. We practise Resilience by persevering in the ongoing work of truth-telling and healing. We draw on Resourcefulness as we seek creative ways to learn with and from First Nations peoples. Through Reflectiveness, we continue to grow in our understanding and awareness, learning from the past while shaping the future. We strengthen Relationships by building trust, respect, and genuine connections. And through Restoration, we work towards renewing relationships with people and place. In this way, reconciliation is not an added part of learning...it is embedded in the very way we teach, grow, and walk together.
