Our 25 Year Birthday Celebrations – Symphony of the Light

In Term 3, our Year 12 students work hard to complete their Major Works for their HSC. These works are the culmination of an extraordinary amount of effort and I am always so impressed by the creativity and craftsmanship of the projects. The Major Works are presented to our school community in Week 7 in the Majormorphosis exhibition. This year we are going to expand the exhibition to include the creative works of our students from our Preschool, Junior School and Senior School in a special evening called the Symphony of the Light.

The Symphony of the Light will see performances by our Orchestra, Junior Band, our various music ensembles and our dance troupes. There will be exhibitions of student learning from across the entire school including story writing, poetry, Science experiments, History displays, Christian Studies and Mathematics. The theme is one of light and reflects our motto “In the Light of the Cross”. Our parents have also contributed to the evening with an exhibition.

Firstly, the Symphony of the Light is a time to remember the past. During the evening, there will be memories from our alumni.

Secondly, it is a time to honour our current students and their learning. I am always so proud of our Year 12 students and delight in their Drama and Music performances, I enjoy reading their Science, Society and Culture and History Extension projects. I also marvel at the beautiful artworks and design projects. It is going to be very special as we view the learning from across our entire community. There will be sneak previews from the Junior School Musical, The Lion King and tasty treats from various food vans such as Ola Chola, Wandering Woodfire Pizza and Wicked Tasty Donuts. Make sure you make a trip into our Banksia room to see the creativity of our youngest artists.

Finally, the Symphony of the Light reminds us to celebrate our wonderful community. I would like to invite all members of our community to this event. The Symphony of the Light is an event for everyone; families, alumni, students and staff. Young people find it so exciting to come out at night for a special event. Come and enjoy your children’s excitement as they show you their learning.
