Excited for the Journey Ahead: A Message from NAC’s New Principal

Christian Community, College News, Creative Arts, Performing Arts, Parents & Carers

I consider it a sincere privilege to have been appointed as the next Principal of Nowra Anglican College, to follow in the footsteps of Mrs Lorrae Sampson who has served the College with Christ-centred, compassionate and determined leadership.

I have had some brief opportunities to visit the College and am dearly looking forward to the start of the new year, to be able to form connections with members of the school community and to develop a deeper understanding of what makes NAC such a special place.

For many years, through my work in other Anglican Corporation Schools, I have heard wonderful things about NAC. I have heard about the strong sense of community and the genuine commitment to helping each individual unlock their full potential through excellent academic, cocurricular and wellbeing programs.

I am excited to be joining a school community that utilises the Building Learning Power Framework well. Having been involved in the implementation of BLP in another school, I experienced the impact of providing students with a framework that builds their understanding of the dispositions used by powerful learners and opportunities to learn to put these into practice in the classroom and throughout the breadth of school experiences.

As a parent of four young adult children, I have seen firsthand how invaluable it has been for them to be resilient, resourceful, reflective and relational, as they navigate the transition to independence. I have seen how important it has been for them to have a firm confidence in their capacity to navigate complex situations.

There have been many times when they have also needed to grapple with how their values will inform their actions. The Nowra Anglican College BLP Framework is built on the firm foundations of the College values of respect, compassion and wisdom. NAC wants to foster in young people the strength of character to embrace challenge with a firm understanding of what matters and why it matters.

As a community, the school wants to make sure each student knows they are made in the image of God and that they are dearly loved by Him. They want them to know how they can share this love with others. The commitment to service that runs through the College, as a way of sharing His love to those within and beyond the school.

I look forward to joining the school at the start of 2026 and to meeting many members of the school community as the new school year commences. In the meantime, I hope students enjoy the closing weeks of the 2025 school year and all families have a safe, blessed Christmas.

Mrs Jodie Bennett
2026 College Principal
